DENVER – Police have arrested 30-year-old Robert Trujillo in connection with the murder of his girlfriend, 20-year-old Natasha N. Carrillo of west Denver.
Carrillo’s body was found in her home on Friday, Aug. 10 by officers responding to reports of a shooting at 1497 Knox Court around 4:20 p.m.
Autopsy results confirmed Carrillo died from a single gunshot wound.
Family members say they believe her boyfriend was responsible for the shooting and they tipped police to Trujillo’s whereabouts.
“We gave them the call. I said, “hey, he is over here, you know, and that’s when they started doing their perimeters and everything,” said William Calderon, Natasha’s step-father. “We know he had a gun for a month or two now. He has always been a pretty violent guy. He has a lot of arrest sheets. A lot of domestic violence towards Natasha.”
Trujillo is being held for investigation of murder in the first degree and other outstanding warrants.
